Prym Intimates Indonesia signs agreement for 100% renewable electricity
20 May, 2022
Prym Intimates Indonesia firmly believes in sustainable and ethical manufacturing practices with the view of protecting the environment. In keeping with this belief, Prym Intimates has signed a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) partnership agreement with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to purchase 1,500 MWh of renewable energy (EBT) based electricity per year.
The agreement was signed on 7 April 2022 at the factory premises by Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho, Manager of PLN UP3 Semarang, and Kasun Kuragamuwa, General Manager of Prym Intimates Indonesia. Based on this agreement PII will collaborate with PLN for a period of five years and will purchase geothermal energy sourced from the Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant for 100% of electricity requirement of PII.
The REC is a green product of the State-owned electricity firm, PLN, facilitating customers to use renewable energy in a transparent, accountable and internationally recognized manner, without incurring investment costs for infrastructure development. As Indonesia aims to increase its renewable energy share in the energy mix to 23% by 2025, and 31% by 2050, the REC supports the government's drive to promote clean energy in cooperation with Clean Energy Investment Accelerator (CEIA) Indonesia.
Prym Intimates Indonesia is committed to its sustainability efforts that addresses the serious implications of climate change, including working toward a net-zero future and cutting carbon emissions. The REC agreement between Prym Intimates Indonesia and PLN is an important step in realizing Prym’s sustainability agenda whilst supporting Indonesia’s transition towards Net Zero Emission in 2060.
